Along The Sidewalk

sidewalk

– Along the sidewalk
Against the post
I leaned and lazed…
As darkness strolled
The evening shadows lounged
And the lights they gazed
Into the nights soul.
Then rushing feet
Fled homeward bound
While wearied worn
Dragged in limbs
– Along the sidewalk.
Against the post
I leaned and lazed…
While hand in hand
Smiled the young
With eyes for none else
Others furtive , looks a darting
Restless perplexed stood
And pleasant, obnoxious
Strode a jostling, hustling
With buxom, lithe and gaunt
– Along the sidewalk
Against the post
I leaned and lazed…
And gazed
Into the nights soul.
